Day 11 of the 12 Days of Beauty

What? You say I should be cleansing my skin with Oil Cleansers! Really?

Many are turning to oil cleansing as a way to gently remove makeup, soothe sensitive and dry skin , and tame unrelenting breakouts. Using oil cleansers instead of traditional soap, detergent or water based cleansers can also help protect the natural lipid layer of the skin and the good bacteria that live there. While there is still a lot to learn about the microbiome in our bodies and on our skin, studies have shown that the bacteria that thrive on our skin can help protect against infection like acne.

Why use oil to cleanse your face?

The basic idea behind slathering your face in oils in the name of cleaning is that “oil attracts oil.” In other words, putting clean, nourishing oils on your skin is intended to:

  • lift excess natural oil (known as sebum)

  • clean out clogged pores (like blackheads and whiteheads)

  • remove dead skin, pollutants, and makeup

Traditional cleansers can cause irritation to the skin, cause excessive dryness, exacerbate acne, resulting in further breakouts, and ultimately result in the skin overproducing oil after washing. Oil cleansing, on the other hand, can help balance the skin and lock in hydration.

Oil cleansing isn’t just beneficial for dry skin, it’s actually perfect for all skin types. Whether your skin is acne-prone, oily, combination or super sensitive, oil cleansing can help. It naturally balances all skin types, giving you the gorgeous skin you desire…and deserve.

Here are some amazing oil cleansers to choose from!

Citrus Dandelion Cleansing Oil

This Citrus Dandelion Cleansing Oil is a combination of gentle light oils and abundant nutrients for a soothing cleansing experience without over stripping your skin. Oil cleansing is very gentle and works on the principle that like objects attract each other, so oil attracts oil, then with the addition of water, the oils are washed away.

Charcoal Polishing Face Cleanser

The Charcoal Polishing Face Cleanser warms in your hands for easy spread-ability on your face. The charcoal adds a grey color to your face, while attracting impurities. The jojoba beads and oils gently exfoliate and attract unwanted oils. As you add a bit of water to your face, this cleanser turns into a creamy lather that might remind you being in the woods after a rain. With more water, you gently wash away all dust, oil and pollution, revealing perfectly clean skin.
